Lets try something a little different again (rescheduled from 10/18).  We’ll paddle out to the Gulf and down to the south end of Caladesi Island Park, land on the beach and take our lunch/snack break. Then we will portage the short distance to the bay side of the island (with beach wheels if needed). We will paddle down the old Dunedin Pass, past Scharrer Bayou and Malone Island then north to the launch. High tide is about 11:00am, +2.5 ft, so we should have good water. If wind or water conditions preclude a Gulf paddle, we’ll adjust the plan.

Location: Dunedin Causeway, just west of the kayak rental.

Schedule: Wed, Nov 1, 8:30 a.m. for 9:00 a.m. launch, return about 1:00 p.m.

Difficulty: Level II, about 8 miles, including open Gulf and surf landing.

Required: PFD (no inflatable please), whistle, kayak at least 16’ with flotation or water tight bulkheads, spray deck, sun protection, drink, lunch/snack to eat on the beach. See the Skills Self Assessment Chart on the web site and contact the leader with any questions. Please register on the web site or RSVP to the trip leader to allow notification of any changes.
