ATTENTION TAMPA BAY PADDLERS! Here's a chance to speak up for our region's paddling trails.
Hillsborough County seeks comments from citizens at four public meetings as it updates its Greenways master plan, which include natural corridors, land-based trails, and recreational waterways. If you use these blueways and/or would like to see them improved or extended, PLEASE let your voice be heard!
Currently the county has marked paddling trails at Upper Tampa Bay Park, Simmons Park, and Cockroach Bay. In addition, Florida’s Office of Greenways and Trails lists as Designated Paddling Trails portions of the Hillsborough, Alafia, and Little Manatee River, as well as the section of the Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail that enters the county as it crosses the mouth of Tampa Bay. We describe many of these paddling trails on TBSK's website.
Public meetings are scheduled for:
• July 26, 6:30PM, Bloomingdale Regional Library
• July 27, 6:00PM, SouthShore Regional Library
• July 28, 6:30PM Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library
• August 1, 6:30PM, virtual meeting, register here.
There will probably be an opportunity at the meetings to fill out a survey on this topic as well.
Feel free to contact Al Tillson (email@example.com), who is the blueways representative on the county Greenways Committee, with any questions.
