Description: We'll paddle from Fred Howard Park (Tarpon Springs) to the South end of Anclote Key and then up the Gulf side. Plan to eat lunch on the beach and to have time for some skills practice or exploration of the lagoon at the lower end of the island before returning to Fred Howard Park around 1:30.
Location: Fred Howard Park, end of the causeway, north parking lot
Schedule: Wednesday, April 4th. Meet at 8:30 and be GONE by 9:00
Additional information: There is a $5 Parking Fee if you don’t have a Pinellas Parks Annual Pass. No water connections for boat cleaning. Bring lunch/snack, drink, and sunscreen. Dress appropriately for water temperature
Difficulty: Level III, distance about 10 miles in open water, may be choppy, MUST have solid open water skills and maintain 4 – 4.5 mph pace for the duration of this paddle. (See Skills Self Assessment Chart link below for level assignment)
Required: Sea kayak at least 15' with water-tight bulkheads, decklines, and spray deck; no inflatable PFDs. Bring lots of water/sports drink, lunch, sunscreen.
