Trip leader : Phil Sheesley philsheesley@hotmail.com (c)813-695-7395

Description: Jean Totz, well known expert kayaker and former ACA and BCU Instructor will be working with us to continue with refinements on the basic rescue training we held in June. In this day long session, we’ll be working on paddle strokes that serve to make the rescue process smoother and more efficient, and on the bracing strokes that can serve to make you more confident and comfortable on the water when conditions get choppy. Time permitting, we’ll move on to cover essentials of towing as well.

Location: Ft DeSoto boat ramp (on right just inside the park).  Note: pay station or Pinellas County pass: http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/parkingfees.htm#ramps

Schedule: Saturday, July 7. Meet at 8:30 and be on the water by 9:00

Additional information: Expect to be in the water much of the day. Should plan to be back at Arrowhead by around 2:30 – 3:00. We will eat lunch/snack on the beach.

Difficulty: This training is open to all levels, but you must pre-register. It will be HOT.

Required: Kayak with water-tight bulkheads or floatation, decklines, and spray deck; no inflatable PFDs. Bring lots of water/sports drink, lunch, sunscreen.

Must register on the web site or RSVP to the trip leader to allow notification of any changes.
