Rachel Arndt of Tampa Bay Watch (TBW) mentioned this project at our last club meeting.  TBSK is supporting this project with four volunteers.  This project is well suited for recreational and sit-on-top kayaks.  Please register for the TBSK event as soon as possible to allow coordination with TBW. Tampa Bay Watch is recruiting volunteers for a water based cleanup of Coffee Pot Bayou on Saturday, July 7, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. This cleanup registration is for canoes and kayaks only (You must provide your own vessel).

Do your part after the holiday and join TBW for our annual post-4th of July Coastal Cleanup! Thank you for helping keep Tampa Bay a clean and fun place for all to enjoy - including wildlife!

Meeting location will be Coffee Pot Boat Ramp at 1st St. NE and 31 Ave NE, St. Petersburg, 33704

Information for registered volunteers:

  • You'll need to wear clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting wet and dirty.
  • Please remember to wear shoes that tie to your feet, like old sneakers or water shoes.
  • Please bring a water bottle to fill up and carry with you. There will be coolers full of water, but they will be scattered throughout the site.
  • Wear a hat, sunscreen, bug spray and bring garden gloves.
