NAME OF EVENT: ROUGH WATER RESCUES AND TOWING -ACA L4 Skills Training for TBSK.

DATE: Sunday October 28, 2018

DESCRIPTION: This course will be focused on A) Rough Water Rescues and B) Rough Water Towing. The course will be taught by Steven Henkind (ACA L4 Instructor).

SKILL LEVEL: TBSK Skill Level 3 only. This class is going to require advanced skills – so you MUST be able to roll (or do a solid cowboy) in conditions. Unless I am personally familiar with your paddling skills, all participants will be required to demonstrate a roll (or cowboy), at the start of the class.

LOCATION: TBD – likely in the Fort DeSoto area..

EQUIPMENT: Please bring your own kayak(s), rescue gear and other equipment. Spray skirts and helmets will be required.

NOTE: This course will also be run under ACA auspices/insurance (in addition to TBSK). It cost me $20 to register this course with the ACA, so that fee will be split among the participants. In addition, if you are not an ACA member, you will need to pay $5, for the day, to cover insurance. Everyone will need to sign the ACA waiver, in addition to the usual TBSK paperwork.

See the Skills Self Assessment Chart on the web site and contact the leader with any questions. Please register (and cancel) on the web site or RSVP to the trip leader to allow notification of any changes.
