Trip leader: Terry and Charlene Proeger terryproeger@gmail.com 941 356-2185

Details: We will meet at 9:30 and launch by 10:00. This is a wildlife viewing trip with the goal of seeing alligators (if the sun is out) and hopefully many of the birds that frequent the park. We will paddle upstream toward the Upper Lake and then return downriver to the launch site. The upstream segment of the trip will be against a strong current. This section of the river is narrow with many twists and turns. Most of it flows through a flood plain and has little tree cover and grassy banks. Since this part of the river has one of the highest densities of alligators in Florida, the trip is not recommended for those who are afraid of alligators

Location: Myakka River State Park, 13208 SR-72 (10 miles east of US-75). Enter via the south entrance to the park off SR-72. The entrance fee is $4 for single occupancy vehicles and $6 for multi-occupancy vehicles .Our launch site will be on the south side of the park bridge, which is a little less than a mile from the south entrance to the park. Rest rooms are available at the park entrance.

Schedule: Wed, Dec 26, meet 9:30 am, launch by 10:00 am, with a planned return before 2:00 pm
