Let’s get the boat wet and spend a couple of hours paddling in an interesting bayou near Weedon Island. A week ago I spent hours with many dozens of manatees that were hanging out near the put-in (nearby power plant creates warm water). We’ll look for them then go through the strange cluster of derelict boats before exploring Masters Bayou. We’ll stop for a stretch break before returning. Any boat that can keep up with the group is ok. Protected shoreline, tough to define a hazard (at least until we see a weather forecast), approx 3 casual miles.
Launching from the south side, west end of the Gandy Causeway (Hwy 92) near the end of the row of mangroves. Arrive 1:00 to launch at 1:30. Tides: Low 11:27a (-.2 ft) , High 5:51p (1.37ft)
