Description: A leisurely paddle through the mangroves on Weedon Island’s south paddling trail. The trail can be narrow and, depending upon the water height, may require ducking at various times. Weather permitting we will leave the trail at the southern end and proceed out to the main channel, then rejoin the trail coming up the west side of the island. Most any boat will do, although take one that can keep up with the group.

Predicted Tides: 

Location: Weedon Island Preserve at the kayak launch by the fishing pier.

Schedule: Sunday May 19th, meet at 10:00 am launch 10:30 am.

Difficulty: A Level 1 paddle of about 5 miles. Level 1 for the distance, pace will be leisurely. Proficiency with boat handling recommended as part of the trail may be very narrow.

Suggested Items: waterproof camera, insect protection, snack, sun protection including sunscreen and sunglasses with a float, and water.

Parking: Parking is limited at the put-in. If necessary, boats and gear can be dropped off at the put-in. There is additional parking at the Weedon Island Preserve Nature Center.

Facilities: Rest rooms and wash rack at put-in/take-out
