FPTA Paddlers Environmental Toolkit Training

  • 20 Nov 2019
  • 9:00 AM
  • Emerson Point Preserve, Palmetto

The Florida Paddling Trails Association (FPTA) has extended a special invitation for TBSK members to attend the Paddlers Environmental Toolkit Training (PETT) program at Emerson Point Preserve on November 20. The program educates paddlers about flora and fauna in the environments they travel through, how to best interact with wildlife and habitats, and empowers paddlers to serve as waterway stewards. There will be three hours of classroom instruction, lunch provided by FPTA, and a short paddle on a nearby waterway to put into practice on the water some of the lessons learned in class.

The class will meet at 9AM in the classroom near the Ranger’s Station at Emerson Point Preserve, located at 5801 17th St West in Palmetto. The afternoon paddle should conclude by 3PM. Participation is limited to 20 people. Paddlers must wear PFDs while on the water. The program is free to FPTA members and $25 for non-members (which includes a one-year FPTA membership). Pre-registration separate from the TBSK website is required. Please contact Jill Lingard at jill.lingard@gmail.com to sign up for this program.
