Join us for the club’s annual New Year’s Day paddle and potluck feast. We have paddle options for everyone!
- Level 0 & 1 - Meet at 9:30 a.m. at Crisp Park for a 3 to 4 mile paddle (Trip Leader - Hank Brooks)
- Level II - Meet at Weedon Island at 9:30 a.m. for 8 mile round trip paddle to Crisp Park (Trip Leader - Al Tillson)
- Level III - Meet at Weedon Island at 9:30 a.m. for 10 mile round trip paddle to Crisp Park (Trip Leader - Carl Boettger)

Paddlers launching from the Weedon Island kayak launch ramp will meet at 9:30 A.M. for a 10:00 A.M. launch on New Year’s Day. We will paddle mostly protected waters, heading south through Bayou Grande and then through the canals, emerging into Placido Bayou and then onto Crisp Park for lunch. Total one-way distance to Crisp Park is 4 miles. Depending upon conditions, level 3 paddlers may paddle slightly further and into more open water en route to Crisp Park and/or on the return.
Please bring water, sunscreen and a hat. No inflatable PFDs. Bring a dish to share for lunch. Transportation to Crisp Park for food will be provided. Food transport volunteers (non-paddlers) should indicate that option during registration or contact Bob Morris, rcmorrisfa@aol.com,727 595 8431.
If you plan to meet us at Crisp Park for lunch, we should arrive by water around 11:30 AM. We have tables and two covered pavilions reserved this year. The address is 3600 Poplar St NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33704. Remember to park your car along Poplar St NE or the side streets. The paved lot near the boat ramps is reserved for vehicles with trailers.
