Silver Springs and River (near Ocala) - Level 1+

Trip leader: Dave Schmidt , dave@tbsk.club, 608.842.0135

There are no rivers to kayak in Florida with more history, beauty and unusual wildlife than Silver Springs and the Silver River.  One of the largest artesian springs in the world, the river was used in the filming of many Tarzan movies (also Creature of the Black Lagoon, etc, etc). Wild monkeys and other wildlife abound.

Revision:  Now starting at Ray Wayside Park (9564 NE 28th Ln, Silver Springs, FL 34488). We'll paddle upriver to the state park spring then turn around and head downriver back to Ray Wayside. Along the way we'll stop at a landing (2 mi down from spring) for a stretch/restroom break.

Meet at Ray Wayside @ 10:00, ready to paddle by 10:30.  $5/vehicle to park @ Ray Wayside.

Lodging: We have cabin#2 reserved at the state park for two nights (10th & 11th). Contact me if interested in joining us.  Has a kitchen, microwave, fridge, etc.  Fire ring behind, I'll provide wood. Alternative: park campground is full but Gores Landing (on the Ocklawaha) has first come/first served primitive campsites.

Next day we paddle the Ocklawaha!
