REVISED due to a forecast for very high winds and big waves! (East @ 21mph) Launching from Cooper Bayou Park (709 N Bayshore Blvd, Clearwater) we can stay in the relatively sheltered waters of the bayou. We'll explore the bayou before passing through the short mangrove trail. The trail leads out to Old Tampa Bay but I'm guessing there won't be a group consensus to venture out into the wild windy Bay and around Cooper Point (which is over 1/2 mile of wind exposure). More likely we'll return on the mangrove trail. I think it can still be considered Level 1 conditions (well, not if we venture into the Bay), now shortened to 3 miles.

Launching from Philippe Park in Safety Harbor (2525 Philippe Pkwy) we'll paddle south along the shore past the SH pier down to Cooper Bayou. Likely stop at the park there for a stretch before exploring Cooper Bayou, passing through a short mangrove trail out to Old Tampa Bay then return.
Plan for a trip of just over 5 miles. The launch point is a small beach near the south end of the park, not far past Odet Philippe's Grave.
