Fort DeSoto Circumnavigation - Level 3

Meet at 10am for a 10:30 launch. Return by 2? This is a Level 3 outing where participants can anticipate a fast pace with potential for wave/current/winds providing challenge. Average over 3.5 mph. Sprayskirt, no inflatable pfd's, 15+ ft boats. High tide: 11:57 (1'4")

We'll start at the Arrowhead Picnic Area (NW end of park) and head clockwise around Fort DeSoto. Conditions may influence the route but the most direct (shortest) is about 10 miles. For those not familiar with Ft. De Soto it is one of the gems in this part of Florida. Great beaches, natural beauty in all directions, wonderful ecosystem and a great place to paddle.
The launch area involves a seawall. Park access is $5. There are several places where restrooms are available with at least one stretch/lunch spot planned.
