Description: Tampa Bay Frogman Swim is a 5k open water swim across Tampa Bay that is a fundraiser for the Navy SEAL Foundation. (This is not a TBSK-sponsored event.) Each swimmer is required to have an individual kayak escort for both safety and navigation concerns. Most kayakers will be assigned a specific swimmer and are responsible for staying with the swimmer the entire distance. There will be other kayakers assigned to each wave as "rovers" to assist other kayakers and swimmers. If a swimmer needs assistance, the kayaker waves a support boat over to help.

Required: YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR OWN KAYAK AND REQUIRED SAFETY EQUIPMENT and you must be at least 18 YEARS OLD. YOU MUST BE AN EXPERIENCED OPEN WATER KAYAKER AS THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR ROUGH CONDITIONS AND THE SWIMMERS DEPEND ON THE KAYAKER FOR COURSE NAVIGATION AND LIFE SAFETY.

Location: The course begins at Gandy Beach and parallels the land until exiting the boating channel, then takes a dog leg right across the bay until crossing the main shipping channel. The course then turns right and parallels Picnic Island Beach in Tampa for a few hundred meters to the finish line.

There may be some trailers/vehicles to transport kayaks back to the start, although many get together and paddle back. Please try to arrange your own transport.
