Lake Magdalene - Self Rescue Training Session 3/North Water Prototype Testing - Impromptu

DESCRIPTION: Steven Henkind (ACA L3 Instructor Trainer, ACA L4 Instructor) will be running a self-rescue class this weekend, for interested TBSK members.  The focus of this class will be on 1) Paddle-float rescues and 2) Stirrup rescues. We will teach both assisted and unassisted rescues, and will practice using your paddle, the paddle-float, and rescue stirrup.  This class is open to any TBSK paddler at any skill level and with any boat.  Anyone using a spray skirt will first need to demonstrate a wet exit (and we can teach you that, as well). In addition, you will have the unique opportunity to help test a piece of prototype self-rescue equipment from North Water (one of the leading manufacturers of marine safety equipment).

The water temperature will likely be in the low 70s, so you may wish to wear a wet suit or neoprene.  Steven takes COVID very seriously and appropriate precautions will be discussed prior to the class and followed rigorously during the class.  In order to attend this session, you will need to have signed the TBSK waiver and there will be event specific waivers which you will be required to fill out, as well.

In order to ensure a good learning experience, and lots of individual attention, the class will be limited to 4 participants.   Steve will be assisted by Jill Lingard (L3 Instructor), Tom Joseph (L3 Instructor), Jean Totz (L3 Instructor) Scott Jantz (L2 Instructor), and Jackie Whitaker (L2 Instructor).

Please contact Steve directly (steven.henkind@gmail.com or 914-420-1615) to discuss whether this class is a good fit for you and to register.  First Come First Served.

TIME: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m
