Description: We'll paddle from Maximo Park around the south end of Pinellas County to Bay Vista Park in South St Petersburg. Stop at the park for lunch/snack before returning to the Causeway not later than 1:00. If the wind/weather at the time mandates a change we may go south to the Blackstone Memorial along the Skyway instead.
Location: Maximo Park (last exit on 275 South before the Skyway). Leaving from the picnic area (beach), not the boat ramp.
Schedule: Saturday, October 2nd. Meet at 9:00 a.m. and be GONE by 9:30.
Additional information: No charge for parking.
Difficulty: Level 3, distance about 8 miles in open water, may be choppy, must have open water skills (See Skills Self Assessment Chart link below for level assignment.)
Required: Sea kayak at least 15' with water-tight bulkheads, deck lines, and spray deck; no inflatable PFDs. Bring lots of water/sports drink, lunch, sunscreen.
