Class description: It's getting hot out there--LET'S GET WET! In this training session, we'll figure out how to get back in or on our boats after a capsize and help others do the same. Rescues are perishable skills—even if you’re familiar with them, it’s important to practice them regularly. We’ll focus on wet exits, assisted rescues, self-rescues, and using assistive tools like paddle floats and stirrups. This session is open to paddlers of all skill levels and sit-in or sit-on-top kayaks. Come prepared to fall over, get wet, sort out situations, and laugh a lot.
What to bring: In addition to the usual paddle gear, a spray skirt, paddle float, stirrup, dive mask or goggles, nose plugs. If you do not have a paddle float or stirrup, we can provide them. Bring your own lunch and drinks and enjoy socializing with your fellow TBSK members at the noon picnic after the training. Consider bringing a camp chair or towel to sit on in case all the shelters are taken.
Cancellations: If you need to cancel, please do so on the TBSK website so that another member may take your place.
