Trip title: Explore the spoil islands from Dunedin Causeway L2+ / Navigation training

Description: We will paddle and explore the spoil islands and use some navigation principles to get there. Like to camp?  Scout out your next potential spot on one of the spoils. We will meet west of Kayak rental place on Dunedin Causeway.  (Just west of the High & Dry Grill, 61 Causeway Blvd, Dunedin, FL 34698)

Bring your compass and sense of adventure.  We will be stopping on two to three islands to explore and reference places around us.  Total miles 4-5.  9:30-10am. Navigation primer/training.

10am-12:30pm we paddle and explore. 

Location: Dunedin Causeway, west of kayak rental place. (Facing south at water and kayaks, we will be to the right).

Schedule: Thursday, Feb 16, 2023. Meet at 9:30am for Navigation brief / 10:15am launch and paddle.  Approximate return 12:30-1pm.

Additional information: Public restrooms by High and Dry Grill (east of the kayak rental place).  

Difficulty: 2+ (Due to distance and high winds). High tide at 10:13am – with ebb until 2:33pm.

Required / suggested / restricted: Kayaks 14’ or longer. PFD worn, compass (if you have one, not required). Water, sun protection, sunscreen recommended. A snack and dry bag or garbage bag for spoil island cleanup while on the islands would be great!
