Description: We will paddle and explore the inlets and mangrove areas around Fort DeSoto. Members can bring a guest who meets the Rec criteria. https://tbsk.club/Paddling-Guide. Arrive by 9:15am, we organize and launch by 9:45am. For people renting a kayak, please arrive early to fill out necessary paperwork. 10am-11:30pm we paddle and explore.
Basic paddle instruction provided for new kayakers.
Location: Fort DeSoto State Park, kayak rental post. Head south through main entrance, then turn right at the T. Kayak post will be a short drive (1/4 mile or so) on your RIGHT. https://goo.gl/maps/5Fc3x7S9jdixBuns8
Schedule: Saturday, April 15, 2023. Arrive by 9:15am, meet on shore to trip briefing at 9:45am. Paddle from 10am-11:30am. (2-hour kayak rental recommended).
Additional information: Public restrooms are ACROSS the street, so stop there first, if needed;). High tide at 11:13am, Low tide at 2:55pm.
Difficulty: Rec + L1
Required / suggested / restricted: Required: Kayaks 11’ or longer. PFD worn,, a whistle, quick dry clothing worn, secure water shoes (no flip flops), and water. Sunscreen, a snack, a drybag for valuables, a sense of adventure, a smile, and desire for fun are recommended.
