Treasure Island from War Veteran’s Park

Description: Weather permditting, we’ll paddle from War Veteran’s Memorial Park out John’s Pass into the Gulf and down the outside of Treasure Island to a beach for a break with the drink & snacks that you bring before returning back through the pass. Depending on conditions and the group that paddles Saturday, we may decide to circumnavigate Treasure Island through Blind Pass.
Location: War Veteran’s Memorial Park is located at 9600 Bay Pines Boulevard, St. Petersburgh. – drive all the way to the kayak/canoe launch.
Schedule: Saturday, May 13. Meet at 9:00 and be GONE by 9:30. Expect to return not later than 1:30.
Additional information: No charge for parking. There is water for clean up.
Difficulty: Level II, distance of 8 to 10 miles, some in open water, may be choppy. Must have open water skills (See Skills Self Assessment Chart link below for level assignment)
Required: Sea kayak at least 15' with water-tight bulkheads, decklines, and spray deck; no inflatable PFDs. Bring lunch/snack and lots of water/sports drink, lunch, sunscreen.
