Trip title: L 1.5+ Exploring the Safety Harbor coastline (Philippe Point towards Cooper Point)

Description: We head south from Philippe Park to explore the Safety Harbor waterline, passing by downtown, bike paths, and parks toward Cooper Point. Distance 6-7 miles.
Location: Philippe Park - we will launch from the south shore (not the boat ramp on the north end). Look for cars with kayaks and kayak racks. Short walk to shore (wheels advised…or find a paddling buddy to share the load;). Parking is free.
Schedule: Saturday, October 21, 2023. Arrive by 9:00 am, Pre-trip meeting will be onshore at 9:20 am. We will return between 11:45am and noon.
Additional information: Restrooms are available in the park but may not be near the launch site. Stop on the way in;).
Difficulty: L 1.5+ due to distance and possible winds. Winds may change the float plan. Tide will be going out.
Required / suggested / restricted: Kayaks 14’ or longer, standard PFD worn, secured closed-toe water shoes strongly suggested due to the oyster beds in the area. Bring water and a snack. Quick dry clothing is suggested. No cotton. Please contact the trip leader by Friday evening to inform us of any medical conditions.
