Trip title: Basic/level I - Philippe Park to Harbor Palms Park kayak launch

Description: We will head north along the shore line, under the Rt 580 bridge, toward Harbor Palms Nature Park. This will be a leisurely paddle, stopping for photo opportunities, hydration breaks and any other interesting events or sightings. We may also try some fun kayak skills along the way.
Location: Philippe Park - we will launch from the south shore (not the boat ramp on the north end). Look for cars with kayaks and kayak racks. Short walk to shore (wheels advised…or find a paddling buddy to share the load;). Parking is free.
Schedule: Saturday, October 21, 2023. Arrive by 9:00 am, Launch about 9:30. We will return between 11:45am and noon.
Additional information: Restrooms are available in the park but may not be near the launch site. Stop on the way in;).
Difficulty: Basic/level I, 4 to 5 miles. Winds and gusts will determine the trip. We will try to paddle into the wind going out, with the wind behind us for return, staying in the lee of the shore.
Required / suggested / restricted: Recreational and sea kayaks. Standard PFD worn, secured closed-toe water shoes strongly suggested due to the oyster beds in the area. Bring water and a snack. Quick dry clothing is suggested. No cotton. Please contact the trip leader by Friday evening to inform us of any medical conditions.
