Description: We will paddle from Sunset Beach, Tarpon Springs to the north end of 3 Rooker Island. There we can take a break for a snack and maybe do some roll practice. The weather forecast is a pleasant 79F. Wind is predicted for E8knots at 10:00 AM and then decreasing to SE6 knots at 14:00. Low tide at 16:21 (1.1 ft)and High tide at 10:05 (1.9ft)
Location: Sunset beach boat ramp, 1800 Gulf Rd., Tarpon Springs
Schedule: Saturday Dec.9,2023. Meet at 9:00 AM and on the water at 9:30 AM. If time and interest permits, we could paddle around the southern Rooker before heading back to the launch point. Which would be approximately 8 miles.
Additional information: Rest rooms are available, and trailer launch friendly at the boat ramp.
Difficulty: Level 3, 3-mile Open water crossing, may be choppy.
Required: Sea Kayak 15 feet plus, PFD, full spray skirt, clothing, sun protection, food, and water. Ability to wet exit and assisted rescue a must.
