Trip title: Circumnavigate Caladesi Island and Explore Mangroves – Level 2

Description: We will paddle southwest through hurricane pass and then south along the gulf side of Caladesi island. When we reach the cut we will portage the kayaks over the beach and into the sound. From there we will explore the mangrove tunnels of Caladesi and the waterways around it and head back to the launch
Total distance 7.4 miles
High Tide 10:39 AM, winds forecast at 6 knots.
Location: Dunedin Causeway, west of High and Dry Grill/kayak rental place. (Facing south at water).
Schedule: Wednesday March 6, 2024. Meet at 9:00 AM and launch at 9:30 AM.
Additional information: Public restrooms by high and dry grill (east of the kayak rental place).
Difficulty: 2 for distance and potential winds
Required / suggested / restricted: Kayaks 15’ or longer. PFD worn, Water, sun protection, and sunscreen recommended. A snack and dry bag or garbage bag for any island or water cleanup during the adventure would be great!
