Description: Meet Bill Morgan at Shelter #14. We’ll launch from the beach and paddle south along the shore to Mangrove Point. From there we will take a heading of ~136 degrees for 1.7 miles to Sand Point. Once at Sand Point, we can take a break and determine our route (inside or outside) to Mags Hole. After some exploring, we’ll head back to Shelter #14 for the picnic. Plan to return by NLT 12:00 for Picnic Lunch starting at noon.
Location: Shelter #14 E.G. Simmons Park
Schedule: Saturday, March 23rd Meet at 8:30 with a departure time of 9:00
Additional information: the park opens at 8:00 AM with a $2.00 entry fee per vehicle for up to 8 passengers. Bathrooms are available near the picnic shelter
Difficulty: Level 3, distance of 8 miles, some in open water, may be choppy, must have open water skills (See Skills Self-Assessment Chart link below for level assignment)
Required: Sea kayak at least 15' with water-tight bulkheads, deck lines, and spray deck. PFD Worn (no inflatable PFDs) with whistle. Sunscreen, Hat, Sun Glasses, Water, Snacks, and Sunscreen.
