EVENT DETAILS:
Trip leader: Bill Morgan, billymorganics@gmail.com, (239)-464-4944
Description: Meet at the Ft. Desoto Gulf Fishing Pier parking lot. There are two piers at Ft. Desoto so call me if you’re unsure which one. Please arrive by 8:30 so we can get boats unloaded and lined up on the beach by the pier. We’ll do a quick safety brief, check the conditions, and launch by 9:00 to take advantage of the slack tide. We’ll plan to paddle southwest to the southern end of the island. Work our way back to the north along the beach. Poke around the wreckage (bring a mask and snorkel if you want) and then land on the beach near the hiking trails on the north end. We can take some time to grab lunch and hike in to see the old fort. On our return we’ll paddle north across the boat channel and then we’ll ride the tide back on a Easterly heading. Expect to be back at the launch NLT 2:00 PM. Bring some lunch.
