Trip Leader/Co-Trip Leader Al Tillson alberttillson12@gmail.com 813-731-3583; Nick von Poser (727)-698-0708
Description We’ll paddle north or south along the inside of Honeymoon Island with a lunch/snack break along the way. The later launch time should give us much better water levels and allow us to enjoy the late afternoon winter light on the Sound and maybe in the mangroves. We’ll be back by 3:30. For those who choose to linger on the beach while the sun goes down, the view may be impressive as may the post-sunset traffic on the Causeway.
Location Meet just west of the High and Dry Grill on the south side of the Dunedin Causeway.
Schedule Sunday December 21 st . Meet at 10:30 for launch at 11AM. We should be back by 3:30.
Additional Information Restrooms located just east of the High and Dry.
Difficulty Level 1 plus (for distance). About 6 – 7 miles.
Required/suggested/restricted Boats should be at least 14 feet long and have deck lines and/or grab loops, as well as sealed bow and stern flotation. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, bug repellant, a hat, and shoes that will protect you against oyster shells at take-outs.
The water temperatures have dropped, so it’s important to DRESS FOR POSSIBLE IMMERSION: avoid cotton clothing and include a waterproof outer shell.
