NEW YEARS DAY ANCLOTE PADDLE - LEVEL 2

Trip leaders:   Scott Jantz (scottjantz2@gmail.com, 386-853-5159) and Jill Lingard (jill.lingard@gmail.com, 352-665-1776)

Description: Let's ring in 2026 on the water! We'll paddle from Anclote River Park out into the Gulf towards the south end of Anclote Key.  We can take a break on the island, explore, practice rolls or rescues (if it's not too chilly), and have a snack before paddling back.

Location:  Anclote River Park, 1119 Baillies Bluff Road in Holiday

Schedule:   Thursday, January 1st.  Meet at 9:30AM for a 10:00 launch.  We’ll return around 12:00-12:30 to meet the other group for lunch.

Additional information Bring lunch for a post-paddle picnic.   The picnic shelter cannot be reserved, so bring a camp chair in case we can’t get space in the pavilion.

Difficulty:  Level 2. This is a mostly open water paddle of about 8-9 miles, depending how much of Anclote Key we decide to explore.  Review TBSK's Skills Self-Assessment Chart and contact trip leaders with any questions.

Paddling Requirements:

  • Kayaks of at least 15 feet long with deck lines and bulkheads or bow/stern flotation.
  • Paddlers must wear a PFD, a spray skirt, and appropriate cold weather paddling attire (dress for IMMERSION).
  • Bring plenty to drink and a snack.
  • If you have any medical issues that might impact your paddling, please notify trip leaders before the trip so that they can be best equipped to assist you as needed.

If your plans to participate change, please cancel on the website or app so that people on the waitlist can join us.
