** PICNIC PADDLE! DON'T FORGET TO REGISTER FOR THE PICNIC!**
The Plan: Please meet trip leader Anthony Sousa at Anclote River Park on the south side of the park just east of the swimming area. We'll meet up at 8:00 with a launch at 8:30. Our goal is to launch prior to the L1 and L2 groups needing the space. Total distance is 8-9 miles (round trip). We'll paddle out to the north side of Anclote Key, splash around on the sand bar or beach, maybe do a bit of optional roll or rescue practice, and then paddle back in time for the picnic.
Required: sea kayak of at least 15 feet with sealed bulkheads or other watertight/buoyancy system, paddle, spray deck, PFD w/whistle attached.
Recommended: hydration (1L), sun protection layers and sun block, sun block.
Skills: This is a Level 3 paddle. Please review the Skills Self Assessment Chart to know if it's right for you, or just give Anthony a call/email and discuss. The route is primarily in open water, with one long crossing. Wind, light chop and boat traffic are likely.
